The AJUPS is active in the health field given the mortality of women due to complications related to twin pregnancy or childbirth, most of which could be easily avoided. These women and their families were not informed of the risks and therefore did not know how to make the right decision on time. We take care of pregnant women, mothers and children from 0 to 5 years old. Our teams educate mothers about the needs of their children.
A. Access to healthcare
The association is also helping to improve access to health services. We organize workshops with local populations in order to find a set of solutions that will allow them to take better care of themselves. We provide health assistance to women, mothers and babies in urban and rural areas.
In rural Senegal, more than a quarter of families lack food. Hunger causes children to have issues being focused in classrooms, or sometimes even to drop out of school. Indeed, some children are forced to interrupt their schooling to work and participate in the needs of their families.
C. Sensitizing campaigns
Thus, in its health projects, AJUPS initiates health courses for pregnant women and their families. They learn to take better care of themselves and their babies during pregnancy and after childbirth. We explain to them, for example, the importance of eating well throughout pregnancy and of having several medical checks so that they and their baby remain healthy. Thanks to the recognized expertise of our health specialists, our NGO is thus able to transmit knowledge that will help provide long-term assistance. Parents are trained in counseling and awareness in order to better assess the health problems of the population and thus provide better care.
D. Vaccination campaigns
The World Health Organization estimates that immunizations prevent 2-3 million deaths per year. Children are the most vulnerable to these diseases which each year kill, disable or irreparably disable millions of people, who often suffer and are socially excluded for the rest of their life. The acceleration of immunization activities had a major impact on the achievement of these results.
E. well-being and quality of life
Well-being is a notion specific to the individual, resulting from his behavior, his social relations, the adequacy between the image he has of himself and a certain ideal, as well as by the management of ” possible harm to his health and its consequences. If it is the life experience of the individual that it is about, it is built up against society and its standards. The aim of AJUPS is to promote, particularly at the level of municipalities and neighborhoods, a broad approach to quality of life, well-being and health through community participation. For many families, the question is not to live, but to survive. Every child has the right to grow up and thrive in a healthy environment and have access to quality care.
F. Birth control
Birth control is necessary for successful spacing of domestic births. This means of limiting couple births is necessary to avoid unwanted pregnancies. From a health perspective, family planning helps reduce maternal mortality and prevent unwanted pregnancies, many of which end in unsafe abortions. On the demographic level, planning makes it possible to control the rate of demographic growth and the basic needs of the population, particularly in terms of health, education, employment and environmental resources.
